Roof inspection, the process is leading
"A child can do the laundry. If not, we have not done our job properly."
Decisions about the maintenance activities to be carried out are made on the basis of policy priorities. Problems with roof inspections often relate to the variation in the results. One of the reasons is that different inspectors make different estimates of defects and their consequences. For example, how is your own roof inspected and that of someone else's? Moreover, the instructions are not always clear or the knowledge and expertise of the inspector himself is insufficient. A solution is the condition measurement in accordance with NEN 2767 that ensures common property and makes it possible to visualize both the desired quality and the actual quality. The condition measurement is a uniform inspection method with predetermined maintenance levels. A multi-year maintenance planning (MJOP) can possibly be linked to this, whereby the costs of maintenance are related to efficiency aspects.

Assumptions
Before Wikibase Solutions started to develop a roof application for condition measurement, a number of assumptions were made about the roofing industry that were not entirely correct afterwards. Van Kakerken:
“For example, we thought digitization would be high on the agenda at the average roofing company. That turned out to be a misconception. At a number of companies, it hardly plays a role. Looking at their processes and their checklist, nothing has changed for years. Some still work like they did fifteen years ago. That is a choice that every company makes itself. There are many roofing companies that still work everything out manually. They swear by the paper as an information carrier and communication tool. They have little interest in automation and digitization. The condition measurement in accordance with NEN 2767 does not yet pass through their door. Their customers go along with it. Great, that's a choice. They put the client first and you can never be against that. It will be a different story if the client suddenly wants an inspection in accordance with NEN 2767. In order to continue to operate in a customer-oriented way, they are more or less forced to take a close look at their own work process and adjust it if possible. The tool that we have developed for roof maintenance reports can be a pleasant tool. This roof application saves time, increases efficiency and ensures clear communication. The application is offered in the form of an app. This consists of a basic version that is the same for everyone and that can be expanded as desired with company-specific features. The uniqueness of the company can be shaped with the latter. This is important to us. After all, the work process is leading, or the unique inspection method that every company uses. Companies can distinguish themselves with this. The unique selling points, after all, no company works the same. Eleven different versions are currently circulating in the roofing industry and four basic versions that have not been changed."
Added value
The added value of this app is the speed and the fact that it ensures a uniform way of working. Van Kakerken:
“A maintenance inspector or an entrepreneur who takes up a roof uses his " device "(hardware device on which software runs - for example, an iPad) and enters the data in accordance with the condition measurement program. Photos can be placed directly in the system. The report is complete as soon as he leaves the roof. If forwarded immediately, the status of the roof is available at the same time on the premises. The report has been generated and can be sent directly to the client if necessary. Some companies make an offer for the repair or repair and send the report separately. Others do not do this and let the report serve as a starting point. Customers can access the database 24 hours a day to view the status of their roofs, provided they have been authorized to do so. ”Working with the roof application software does not cause any problems. Van Kakerken: “The system navigates itself. Although it is possible, we have never had to organize a training for it. A child can do the laundry. If not, we have not done our job properly. Data saved by another system can, insofar as they can be exported, be imported into the new tool. No problem. You can use this to record the history of the inspections and therefore the documentation. From a quick scan to complete reference work. Updates are free and are downloaded automatically. As soon as we develop something, it can be followed by the client. Every day, one can see in which stage the development is taking place. Optionally, adjustments can be made in the meantime. Everything functions flawlessly at the end. The roof application speeds up and simplifies the work process. Roofing companies can serve their customers faster and regardless of the inspector, able to always meet the condition measurement in accordance with NEN 2767 *.
